In the psychological drama Noriko's Dinner Table, Noriko Shimubara lives in Toyokawa with her mother, father, and younger sister Yuka. Struggling with an unhappy relationship with her parents, Noriko finds solace on Haikyo.com, an online BBS where she connects with other high school girls. Driven by the encouragement of a user named Ueno54, Noriko decides to run away from home. Her journey leads her to Tokyo, where she meets her BBS friend, a young woman named Kumiko. Kumiko runs a mysterious family circle program that takes in unhappy girls, offering them new personalities and surrogate families. Noriko readily joins the group, and her younger sister Yuka eventually follows her path. However, this seemingly safe haven soon takes a dark turn. Following a series of horrifying events, the circle begins to expand rapidly, operating under the cold, unfeeling control of Kumiko as it consumes the lives of those involved.
