In Nobunaga's Coffin, also known as Nobunaga no hitsugi, Oda Nobunaga builds the grand Azuchi Castle as he plans to conquer Japan. To aid Hashiba Hideyoshi at Takamatsu Castle, Nobunaga dispatches Akechi Mitsuhide before heading to Kyoto himself. Before his departure, Nobunaga shares a profound secret and entrusts five mysterious wooden boxes to his loyal vassal, Ota Nobusada, famously nicknamed Gyuichi the Cow for his extreme devotion. Shortly after, betrayal strikes at Honnoji Temple. Outnumbered by Mitsuhide's forces, Nobunaga and Mori Ranmaru reportedly perish in a devastating temple fire. However, when Gyuichi learns of the tragedy, he is confronted with a baffling mystery: Nobunaga's remains are completely missing.
