The horror movie Neck follows Tomokazu Shudo Junpei Mizobata, who harbors a deep crush on popular senior graduate student Sugina Mayama Saki Aibu. Struggling to confess his love, Tomokazu is thrilled when Sugina invites him to her dark research lab. Hoping for a romantic breakthrough, his expectations are shattered when he finds a massive wooden box in the room. Before he can react, Sugina pushes him inside, leaving only his neck and head protruding. Tomokazu learns he is the first test subject for her bizarre invention called The Neck Machine. This device attempts to turn human bodies into monsters from the neck down by forcing them to watch horror movies produced from their own minds. When the initial experiment fails, Sugina recruits her childhood friend Takashi Gori Yuta Hiraoka, a horror writer known as Mataro Echizen, to help perfect her terrifying project.
