N no Tameni is a gripping mystery drama that revolves around a tragic murder. University students Sugishita Nozomi, Naruse Shinji, Ando Nozomi, and Nishizaki Masato devise a secret plan, but it unexpectedly leads them to the gruesome murder scene of the Noguchi couple. Following a voluntary confession, Nishizaki is arrested at the scene and sentenced to ten years in prison. A decade later, former police officer Takano Shigeru begins to question the verdict and starts a relentless pursuit of the truth. Takano is convinced that the tragic events actually trace back to a crime committed fifteen years ago on an island in the Seto Inland Sea by Nozomi and Naruse.
