Description:

Millennium Mambo looks back to 2000, exploring the tumultuous life of Vicky in Taipei. A voice off-camera recounts Vicky's on-again, off-again relationship with HaoHao. Vicky is depicted as young, lovely, and aimless, her nights fueled by cigarettes and alcohol. The narrative follows her through significant events, including a police detention with HaoHao after he steals his father's Rolex. Vicky then takes a job as a club hostess, where she meets Jack, who becomes her patron and protector. Tensions rise when HaoHao insists on confronting Vicky at the club. The story also takes Vicky to Yubari, Japan, for its film festival in the dead of winter, a trip that coincides with Jack's urgent journey to Japan to resolve issues caused by one of his acolytes. The film poignantly questions whether Vicky holds any expectations for her future, or if time simply passes without purpose.
