The film Mei no Mei tells the story of Ozu, a 32-year-old from Tokyo, who temporarily relocates to Fukushima to care for his 12-year-old niece, Mei. This move becomes necessary after Mei's parents tragically pass away in an accident, leaving Ozu responsible for her during the summer vacation. Despite his modern outlook, Ozu is generally lethargic and unmotivated in his daily life. In Fukushima, he encounters a resilient community, including local residents dedicated to rebuilding after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and newcomers striving to achieve their dreams. Living with his artistic niece, their bond gradually deepens.
