Description:

Medaka centers on a young woman whose primary dream is to marry and escape her current job. Against her initial desires, she takes on a teaching position at a night school. At first, she approaches her new role with apathy, not truly committing to her students or the curriculum. However, she quickly learns that the night school environment presents unexpected difficulties. Her class is a colorful mosaic of individuals, including a high school dropout, a driven businessman, a cabaret performer, and many other extraordinary characters. Half of her students are older than her, and she even recognizes an old elementary school classmate among them.

This unusual work schedule, which forces her to sleep during the day and work through the night, disrupts her social life and opportunities to meet men. She gradually accepts her circumstances, deciding to simply "go with the flow." Yet, a significant incident one night dramatically rekindles her passion for teaching, culminating in an emotional, fiery scolding of her students, profoundly changing her perspective on her career.
