Set in the mid-1920s, Marry into the Purple is a captivating drama of sacrifice and resilience. The story follows the Xu family, whose successful soy sauce business is ruined by the ruthless warlord Cao Zhen Fang. To honor a marriage commitment, Shen Yingxiu, played by Charmaine Sheh, replaces her elder sister Ying Di, played by Jiang Zuping, to marry the Xu family's only son, Jia Jun. When Yingxiu's true identity is exposed, her father-in-law dies of shock. Heartbroken, Jia Jun runs away to join Xiaojiu's army for revenge. The situation worsens when both women are taken hostage as retaliation for Jia Jun's military rebellion, forcing Yingxiu to endure brutal abuse to protect her mother-in-law.
