Set during the early Ming dynasty after the overthrow of the Mongolian Yuan dynasty, Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion centers on two legendary weapons carrying heavy ethnic conflicts: the RainCeasing Sword and the Cloud Ruling Sabre. The ruthless Mongolian clan chief Pong Ban, played by Derek Kok, defeats the monks guarding the RainCeasing Sword. However, Long FanWan, portrayed by David Chiang, steps in to stop him, allowing a surviving monk to escape. Hon Pak, played by Bosco Wong, later finds this monk and presents the sacred sword to Yin Wong. Meanwhile, Fung HengLit, played by Raymond Lam, is a Mongol Prince who lost his childhood memory during a brutal massacre by Emperor Zhu. While HengLit grows up in China, Pong Ban attempts to restore his memories to groom him to lead a Mongol rebellion against the Ming Dynasty. Yet, HengLit dreams of a very different future, envisioning an equal world where Mongols and HanChinese can live together in harmony.
