In reality, Ku is the legendary hero Chen Zhen in disguise, having escaped to France after avenging his mentor in a Hongkou dojo. By night, Chen operates as a masked warrior, fighting to rescue those targeted on a Japanese assassination list. As he wages this silent war, he falls for the singsong girl Kiki, who harbors her own dangerous secret.
