La Maison de Himiko is a poignant drama about Saori, a young woman who has spent her life denying the existence of her gay father. Her perspective changes when Haruhiko, a young man, visits her workplace with shocking news. He reveals that Saori’s father is dying of cancer and that the House of Himiko, a nursing home for gay old men he operates, is in danger of closing. Prompted by curiosity and her own rising debts, Saori decides to visit the nursing home. There, she encounters a bittersweet yet cheerful community of residents. Though initially repelled by the romantic relationship between Haruhiko and her father, Himiko, Saori soon realizes their love is genuine. As she spends more time with the delighted elderly men, her resentment fades, and she begins taking an active interest in keeping the nursing home alive, finding unexpected healing and reconciliation.
