Komyo ga Tsuji is the 45th NHK Taiga Drama, an epic tale set during the tumultuous end of Japan's Sengoku period. This historical drama chronicles the life of Kazutoyo, who lived from 1546 to 1605. Starting as a humble samurai, he navigates the complex political landscape, serving three of Japan's most powerful unifiers: Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Ultimately, Kazutoyo rises to become the first feudal lord of the esteemed fief of Tosa on the island of Shikoku.

The series also prominently features Chiyo, Kazutoyo's devoted wife, born in 1557. Chiyo, the daughter of a samurai who served feudal lord Asai, is celebrated in history for her unwavering dedication and profound support for her husband, much like Matsu's devotion to Toshiie.
