The epic historical drama King Gwanggaeto the Great follows the rise of a legendary leader born during a dark era for Goguryeo. Once highly powerful, the kingdom is in decline. Before his birth, his grandfather King Gogugwon was killed by Baekje forces under King Geunchogo. The royal family faces more tragedy when his uncle King Sosurim dies without leaving an heir, leading his father King Gogugyang to the throne. To survive, they must defend against Later Yan forces led by Murong Chui. Following his father's death, the young protagonist ascends the throne, determined to reclaim Goguryeo's lost power.
