Kamoshirenai Joyutachi 2016 explores an intriguing alternative reality: what if famous actresses made different choices at major turning points in their lives? The drama follows three women living very different parallel lives. Hirosue Ryoko, having missed her breakout role in the 1997 drama Beach Boys, is now a struggling mid-30s actress working as a housekeeper while envying the successful Takeuchi Yuko. Meanwhile, Igawa Haruka, who never released her famous photo book, is a forgotten former model in her 40s. Although she dates Fujiki Naohito, she impulsively tries to start an acting career out of impatience. Lastly, Saito Yuki, who turned down Sukeban Deka in 1985, became a one-hit wonder. Seeking her lost youth, she majors in physics at university alongside 20-year-olds and runs a popular bar patronized by actress Kaho at night.
