In the sci-fi action series Kamen Rider Kabuto, Earth faces a stealthy alien invasion. In 1999, a massive meteor obliterated the Shibuya district of Tokyo, bringing with it the Worm, a dangerous insectoid race capable of mimicking human appearances and memories perfectly. Seven years later, these aliens have infiltrated society, slowly replacing humanity. The secret organization ZECT attempts to defend Earth but struggles against the evolved Worms and their swift Clock Up ability. To turn the tide, ZECT develops the Masked Rider System and Kabuto Zecter weapons. Although eager ZECT recruit Kagami Arata wishes to use this power, the Kabuto Zecter ultimately chooses Tendou Souji, a highly skilled genius chef, philosopher, and martial artist. Proclaiming himself the chosen one, Tendou transforms into Kamen Rider Kabuto to fight the alien threat.
