The anthology film Juliets presents three captivating love stories across different eras, exploring the extreme sacrifices made for romance. In Juliets Choice, set in 1970s Taiwan under martial law, Xiu Zhu, a printing worker with handicapped legs, risks her safety to secretly print a forbidden reform newspaper for university student Luo Wei, hoping to win his heart. Meanwhile, Two Juliets tells a tragic tale of forbidden love. Julie, a dancing troupe owner’s daughter, and Xiao Luo, a puppeteer’s son, face intense business rivalry between their fathers. To keep their love alive, Xiao Luo asks Julie to disguise herself as a mental patient in a hospital and wait for his return. Finally, Another Juliet introduces Chu Li Ye, a forty-year-old bachelor who decides to end his life after failing at love twenty-eight times. Saved by a TV commercial crew, he becomes a star, regaining the courage to seek love on his twenty-ninth attempt. These stories beautifully redefine what it means to be a Juliet.
