Set in Hong Kong 1962, In the Mood for Love is a poignant romantic drama that follows two neighbors, Chow MoWan and Su Lizhen. Chow MoWan, a newspaper editor, moves into a crowded building with his wife. At the same time, Su Lizhen, a beautiful secretary, moves in with her executive husband. Because their spouses are often away, Chow and Su spend most of their time together as friends. They quickly realize they have everything in common, from noodle shops to martial arts. However, their lives are shattered when they discover their spouses are having an affair. Hurt and angry, they find comfort in their growing friendship. Even as their emotional connection deepens, they firmly resolve not to be like their unfaithful mates, resulting in a beautifully restrained story of love and longing.
