Like Raining at the End of April is a captivating drama that follows Nhum, a construction foreman in Bangkok. When political instability impacts the business sector, Nhum suddenly finds himself out of a job. He decides to return to his hometown in Northeast Thailand to attend a high school friend's wedding during the Thai New Year in April, the hottest month of the year. In Khon Kaen, Nhum reunites with old friends and runs into Joy, his former high school crush. However, the film takes an unexpected turn, blending fiction with real-life interviews of the director's father and brother. This reveals the movie's semi-autobiographical nature. From here, Nhum's story transforms into a young man's voyage through the labyrinths of the real and the imagined, documentary and fiction, past and present. It becomes a profound exploration of his own self and Thai society writ large.
