Description:

If You Were Me is a compelling 2003 South Korean omnibus film commissioned by South Korea's National Human Rights Commission to address discrimination. Six prominent Korean directors deliver unique stories highlighting societal biases. Crossing follows Kim Moon Joo, a disabled man on crutches, and the theatre group Hwol on the streets of Sejongno downtown Seoul. The Man with an Affair raises questions about the human rights of sex offenders through a man shunned by his neighbors. The Weight of Her and Face Value examine a looks-obsessed society where job applicants and women face unfair judgment based on physical appearance. Tongue Tied exposes extreme educational fervor as a child undergoes a tongue operation to speak English better. Lastly, N.E.P.A.L. Never Ending Peace and Love tackles the human rights of foreign laborers through Chandra, a Nepalese woman mistakenly committed to a mental hospital for six years. Together, these stories offer a powerful critique of Korean society.
