In the live-action adaptation of I Don't Have Many Friends, second-year high school student Kodaka Hasegawa, played by Koji Seto, struggles to fit in. Having transferred to his new school a month ago, Kodaka still has not made any friends. Born to a Japanese father and a British mother, his unique appearance makes people mistakenly think he is a troubled kid. His lonely life takes an unexpected turn when he spots classmate Yozora Mikazuki, played by Kie Kitano, pleasantly talking to herself. After a conversation about how to make friends, Yozora decides to establish the Neighbors Club, forcing Kodaka to enroll as well. Soon, other students begin to join the Neighbors Club. This entertaining high school story explores their funny and touching journey as they try to learn the true meaning of friendship and overcome their social isolation together.
