In the South Korean film Hindsight, set in present-day Busan, legendary retired gangster Yoon Doohun, played by Song Kangho, dreams of opening a restaurant and enrolls in a cooking class. There, he connects with twenty-year-old Jo Sebin, played by Shin Sekyung. However, Doohun’s quiet life is disrupted when his former boss Mangil dies in a car accident. While the gang searches for Mangil's will to name a successor, Sebin's roommate Lee Eunjung gets indebted to Haeundae moneylenders. They force Sebin to spy on Doohun. After Eunjung steals cocaine from the moneylenders and vanishes, Sebin is ordered to assassinate Doohun but fails to do so. Surviving a murder attempt, Doohun takes over his old gang to uncover the truth behind Mangil's death. He must navigate the threat of Baek Kyungmin, played by Lee Jonghyuk, an ambitious young rival, and his relationship with Sebin, who is pressured by assassination agency head Madame Kang Yoon Yeojeong to eliminate him.
