Description:

Hasegawa Machiko's Story chronicles the inspiring life of a remarkable artist. In 1926, 6-year-old Machiko lives in Fukuoka, a bright child who loves playing outdoors and drawing. Her handsome mining engineer father loves his family dearly. When Machiko is 14, her father passes away, leading the family to move to Tokyo. There, her mother makes a pivotal decision, sending 15-year-old Machiko to become a student of manga artist Tagawa, setting her on a creative path. While Machiko's life finds peace, the oncoming war creates tension, forcing her family to move back to Fukuoka. As the war nears its end, a local newspaper asks Machiko to publish a serial manga. Struggling for an idea, she visits Momochi Seaside Park. Watching the ocean, inspiration strikes, leading to the creation of her iconic manga series, Sazaesan, based on her autobiographical essay.
