Hanayome wa Yakudoshi follows the chaotic life of Akiko, a 32-year-old television announcer who is currently facing her yakudoshi, or unlucky year. Her bad luck begins when she loses her coveted news program position to a younger rookie. Desperate for a comeback, she reluctantly accepts an undercover assignment for a variety program, which requires her to experience life as a rustic farmer's bride. To make the scheme work, Akiko pretends to be the fiancée of her ex-boyfriend, Ichiro, and begins her intensive bridal training at his parents' peach farm. However, rural life is far from peaceful. Awaiting Akiko is a quirky family filled with extraordinary personalities, all ruled by Ichiro's stern mother, Yukie. This hilarious TBS drama series showcases Akiko's struggles to survive her unluckiest year while balancing a fake engagement, farm work, and a formidable mother-in-law.
