Hanamizuki (2010)

Other name: ハナミズキ, 하나미즈키, 花水木, Hanamizuki - May Your Love Bloom A Hundred Year, Dogwood Tree, ฮานะมิซึกิ เกิดมาเพื่อรักเธอ

Description:

"Hanamizuki" explores the journey of Sae, a determined high school student from Hokkaido diligently preparing for university entrance exams in Tokyo. She cherishes the memory of her late father, who planted a symbolic dogwood tree, a Hanamizuki, in their garden. Sae's academic pursuits lead her to Kouhei, a focused young man training to follow his family's legacy as a fisherman.

Despite their differing ambitions, a profound long-distance relationship blossoms between them. However, the vast distances and the weight of their individual dreams eventually prove too challenging, and their love story heartbreakingly comes to an end. Ten years later, a remarkable turn of events – a true miracle – offers Sae and Kouhei an unexpected opportunity to reconnect, reigniting a shared path and exploring the enduring power of destiny. This film beautifully captures themes of first love, sacrifice, and hope, much like the resilient Hanamizuki tree.
