In the heartwarming movie Gugu Datte Neko De Aru, Asako, played by Rie Miyazawa, is a popular manga artist living a busy life in Kichijōji, Tokyo. Rushing to meet tight deadlines, her world is suddenly shattered when her beloved pet cat, Saba, passes away. Overwhelmed by grief, Asako falls into a deep depression, losing her ability to draw or even eat. Sensing her despair, her editor, Omori, suggests she relocate to a new house to start fresh. Unfortunately, the move does little to heal her broken heart. Everything changes one day during a walk through Inokashira Park. Asako encounters a homeless person carrying a desperately sick kitten. Driven by a sudden surge of compassion and a desire to save the fragile animal, Asako makes a bold decision. Without notifying the owner, she takes the sick kitten to the hospital, embarking on a touching journey of healing, hope, and new beginnings.
