Description:

Green Grass by the River unfolds a compelling narrative of courage and unexpected twists. Hsiao Tsao, a young orphan, lives under the thumb of her cruel aunt and uncle. Her bond with neighbor Ching Ching provides comfort, but Ching Ching's life is upended when she is forced into an arranged marriage with an older man. On the wedding day, both girls, desperate for freedom, make a daring escape together. Their journey leads them to Ho Shih Wei, a university student also on the run from his own family's arranged marriage.

After an initial period of misunderstanding, the three decide to travel as a united front. However, their path becomes complicated when they encounter the influential Fu family. The family matriarch, grieving a past tragedy, dramatically mistakes Ho Shih Wei for her son, Fu Yuan Kai, who died a decade earlier. This shocking turn of events plunges them into a web of mistaken identity and hidden family secrets, challenging their escape plans and forcing them to confront difficult truths.
