The martial arts drama Grace Under Fire follows Mok Kwailan, a simple water labourer in Guangzhou whose life changes after meeting the eccentric boxer Lui Chinglung. Drawn into the world of kung fu, she becomes captivated by the legendary master Wong Feihung. Despite her uncle Mok Ping's initial objections, Kwailan learns the Mok Gar style and marries Feihung, dedicating herself to protecting his martial arts school, Po Chi Lam. However, peace is threatened by old rivalries with Lui Kong and the dark ambitions of Ping's adopted son, Yau Samshui. Driven by jealousy and a thirst for power, Samshui allies with corrupt officials and Japanese merchant Tokugawa Kazuo, eventually seizing control of the city. After Feihung's tragic death, Kwailan must rise against Japanese influence and Samshui's tyrannical reign. Through immense struggle and loss, Kwailan defeats her enemies and relocates to Hong Kong with Chinglung and Kwai Fa, opening a revolutionary martial arts school to preserve Feihung's legacy for future generations.
