In the touching drama Good Bye My Secret Friend, based on Saibara Rieko's heartwarming picture book, viewers are introduced to Yoshio Fukazawa, an impressionable nine-year-old boy played by Fukazawa Arashi. Yoshio is accompanied by a strange, shapeshifting little creature named Ikechan, voiced by Aoi Yu, whom only he can see. Able to change color and shape at will, Ikechan is a constant source of comfort for Yoshio, protecting him from school bullies and giving him courage when he is scared of being alone at night. However, this secret friend also exhibits a humorous jealous streak, turning bright red whenever Yoshio interacts with girls. Directed by Oooka Toshihiko, this beautiful fantasy film blends cutting-edge CGI with the bittersweet pain of real life. As Ikechan helps Yoshio overcome the inevitable struggles of childhood, a poignant shift occurs.
