Going By The Book is an engaging comedy about Jeong Doman, a low-ranking traffic cop notorious for his strict adherence to rules. His uncompromising attitude even gets him into trouble when he issues a traffic ticket to his new boss, police chief Lee Seungman. Meanwhile, to reassure citizens after a series of real bank robberies in the town of Sampo, Lee Seungman decides to organize a highly realistic training drill. Hoping to showcase the efficiency of his department, the chief assigns the meticulous Doman to play the role of the bank robber. However, the chief vastly underestimates Doman's obsessive commitment to duty. Instead of allowing a quick, scripted arrest, Doman approaches the task with his trademark fastidious attention to detail. He sets out to commit the perfect crime, turning a simple police exercise into a highly chaotic, complex, and hilariously intense standoff that pushes the entire local police force to its absolute limit.
