In the slow-paced drama Glasses, a harried and overworked woman named Taeko, played by Kobayashi Satomi, desperately needs to escape the chaos of her stressful city life. She decides to embark on a much-needed island vacation to find peace. Stepping off a small propeller plane directly onto the warm, golden sands, Taeko begins her journey by dragging her giant, heavy suitcase across the beach to her destination, the Hamada Inn. Upon her arrival, the eccentric inn owner Yuji, played by Mitsuishi Ken, is thoroughly impressed by the sheer size of her luggage. As Taeko settles into the quiet rhythm of the island, she is forced to confront her own need for control and learn the art of doing nothing. Glasses is a heartwarming and visually soothing film about shedding life's heavy baggage, both literal and emotional, and finding joy in simple moments.
