Gangs of Wasseypur 1 is an epic generational crime saga unfolding in Wasseypur, Jharkhand, erstwhile Bihar. The story begins with Sahid Khan, played brilliantly by Jaideep Ahlawat, who robs trains under the pseudonym of Sultana Daku. When the real Sultana Daku discovers this, he destroys Sahid’s gang and expels him, sparking a fierce rivalry between the Khans and the Qureshis. Sahid flees to Dhanbad to work in the coal mines, where tragedy strikes as his wife dies during childbirth. Following Indian independence, a powerful Jamindar named Ramadhir Singh takes over the mines and hires Sahid as a bouncer. However, when Ramadhir discovers Sahid’s ambitions to seize control, he has Sahid assassinated in Banaras. Sahid’s young son escapes the bloodshed and grows up to be Sardar Khan, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee. Fuelled by deep anger, Sardar Khan dedicates his entire life to one single mission: exact bloody revenge against the formidable Ramadhir Singh.
