Description:

Set in 1895 during the Meiji 28 era, Fuyo no Hito - Fujisancho no Tsuma is a gripping drama about love, sacrifice, and scientific ambition. The story follows Nonaka Chiyoko, a devoted wife praying for the safety of her husband, Itaru. Driven by a desire to advance meteorological studies, Itaru plans a dangerous midwinter climb of Mt Fuji to build a summit observatory. Knowing the mission could cost him his life, Chiyoko refuses to let him face the deadly cold alone. Despite fierce opposition from her mother-in-law, Tomiko, who demands she stay home, Chiyoko secretly plans to join her husband. By deceiving those around her, she successfully makes her way to the peak. At the frozen summit of Mt Fuji, a feat never before achieved, the husband and wife must brave extreme altitude sickness and freezing temperatures to conduct their vital weather observations together.
