For the Emperor (2014) is a gripping crime action movie centered on Lee Hwan, a promising baseball player whose career is ruined by a match-fixing scandal. Stripped of everything, Hwan is recruited into Emperor Capital, the largest private loan company in Busan. The firm is ruled by Jeong Sangha, a coldblooded crime boss who leads with authority and loyalty. Sangha takes the naive former athlete under his wing, and Hwan, seduced by money and power, rapidly climbs the ranks. Together, they dominate the Busan underworld through illegal gambling, lending, and extreme violence. Hwan also finds comfort in the arms of bar owner Cha Yeonsoo. However, when Yeonsoo mysteriously vanishes, Hwan suspects his mentor has played a part in her disappearance. This triggers a fierce, winner-takes-all rivalry as the young protégé prepares to face off against the powerful boss who made him.
