Fly High, Run Far vividly portrays the relentless struggle of Choi Shi Hyong, the steadfast head of the Chondogyo religious sect, in the tumultuous later years of the Chosun Kingdom. After the execution of the sect's founder, Choi Jeh Woo, in 1864, Choi Shi Hyong steps into leadership, garnering immense popular support. This growing influence, however, intensifies the court's oppression, marking him as a constant target for authorities. Forced to flee, he endures separation from his family, seeking sanctuary in a remote hermitage within the majestic Taeback Mountains. In a heart-wrenching moment, convinced of his wife's death, he performs a solemn ritual, burning her tablet. This act propels him into an even deeper, more isolated region of the mountains, a poignant symbol of his enduring flight and dedication to his persecuted faith.
