In the romantic drama First Time, twenty-two-year-old Sonq Shiqiao dreams of being a ballet dancer but cannot exert herself physically. She suffers from myasthenia, a neuromuscular disease that her father died of, and her medication causes memory lapses. Shiqiao lives with her devoted mother, widowed shop owner Zheng Qing Jiang Shan. Her life changes when she bumps into Gong Ning Mark Chao, a former high school friend she always liked, at a charity fair. Despite the initial disapproval of her mother, the two begin dating. Gong Ning, a university dropout leading a rock band, was recently dumped by his girlfriend, dancer Peng Wei Cindy Yen, due to his inability to focus his life. However, for the hopeful Shiqiao, Gong Ning is the perfect partner. This emotional film beautifully explores love, health struggles, and second chances.
