In the comedy action movie Enter the Phoenix, the death of gang master Hung triggers a wild search for his successor. Henchmen Cheung and Chapman To travel to Thailand to find Hung's son, Georgie Hung. However, Georgie is a gay cook living happily with his boyfriend Frankie and has no interest in the underworld. His ambitious friend, Sam, who adores the gangster lifestyle, eagerly steps in. The duo swaps identities and returns to Hong Kong. Trouble arises when they discover Hung accidentally killed the father of rival gangster Cheng Chow, who now seeks revenge. Meanwhile, gang leader Chan WaiMan plans to strengthen ties by marrying his daughter, Julie, to Sam. Complications grow when Sam backs out, realizing Julie does not love him. Seizing the opportunity, Cheng Chow kidnaps Julie and Sam, forcing Georgie to lead a rescue mission. Ultimately, Julie and Sam fall in love, while Georgie and Sam assume joint leadership of the gang.
