Set sixty years after World War II, Eien no Zero - (Special Mini Drama) follows freelance journalist Keiko and her younger brother Kentaro, who is preparing for his bar exam. Together, they begin a search into the life of their grandfather, Kyuzo Miyabe, played by Osamu Mukai. During their research, the siblings are shocked to discover that others who knew Kyuzo Miyabe viewed him as a coward because he believed that preserving life was the most important thing. Yet, he was also known as an exceptionally talented pilot during the war. Keiko and Kentaro become deeply confused as to why their grandfather ultimately boarded a Zero fighter plane and lost his life, despite his desperate desire to survive and return home to his daughter. Based on the novel Eien no Zero by Naoki Hyakuta, published by Ohta Publishing Company on August 24 2006, this moving drama details their journey to uncover the truth behind his final, tragic decision.
