In the thriller Dumplings, Mrs. Li is a fading former actress desperate to reclaim her youth and save her marriage. Her husband is having a passionate affair with his younger masseuse, leaving Mrs. Li feeling abandoned. Desperate to restore her looks, she seeks help from Aunt Mei, a local chef who cooks special dumplings that promise miraculous rejuvenation. However, Mrs. Li knows the dark secret: Mei uses aborted fetuses from a clinic in Shenzhen. Obsessed with results, she demands even more potent remedies. Her chance comes when Mei performs a black-market abortion on Kate, a five-month pregnant girl.
