Set against the backdrop of Tokyo's rapid urban sprawl, the drama film Distant Thunder explores the profound struggles of Mitsuo and his farming family. Amidst these professional hardships, Mitsuo faces a complicated personal life. His mother arranges a blind date with the sweet yet strong-willed Ayako, whom he immediately wants to marry. However, his desires are complicated by a passionate fling with Kaede, a married woman who is also sleeping with his best friend, Koji.
