Ishihara Santaro, an electronics salesman known for his unique charm and trademark red nose, finds himself out of a job due to poor sales despite his best efforts to entertain customers. A new opportunity arises when his former teacher helps him secure a position as a junior high teacher at a hospital. Here, he is tasked with educating children whose illnesses prevent them from attending regular school. Eager to uplift his young students, Santaro attempts to use comedy, but his jokes fall flat, failing to bring even a single smile. His unconventional methods quickly put him at odds with Tagawa, an elementary school teacher who believes he should focus purely on education. Following some deeply painful events, Santaro's resolve to bring laughter and joy to the children intensifies. However, this renewed determination leads to even more conflict with both Tagawa and the hospital's pediatrician, Haruka, as he strives to make a difference.
