Date (Japanese Drama) is a unique romantic comedy focusing on Yoriko Yabushita, played by Anne Watanabe, and Takumi Taniguchi, played by Hiroki Hasegawa. Yoriko is a highly efficient 29-year-old macroeconomic researcher in Yokohama who wants to marry by age 30, following her late mother’s path. She seeks a husband who meets her strict 24-item checklist. Meanwhile, Takumi is a 35-year-old unemployed man who prefers reading and listening to music. Realizing he cannot sustain his lifestyle once his mother passes away, he searches for a financially capable woman to support him. When Yoriko and Takumi cross paths, they discover they both view marriage as a practical contract rather than a romantic fantasy. Despite their contrasting personalities and lack of social skills, they begin dating with the goal of marriage, leading to a hilarious and unconventional love story.
