Description:

Set during the Qing Dynasty in 1779, under the reign of the Qianlong Emperor, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon follows legendary martial arts master Li Mu Bai. Preparing to retire into meditation, Li still harbors a desire to avenge his master, who was slain by the evil Jade Fox. Before his retirement, Li entrusts his fabled 400-year-old sword, Green Destiny, to his close friend and secret love, Yu Shu Lien, to deliver to Sir Te in Peking. However, upon arrival, the weapon is stolen by a mysterious masked thief. When Li arrives in Beijing, he discovers that Jen, a politician's willful daughter, is the thief and is in cahoots with Jade Fox. In spite of this, Li sees great talent in Jen and offers to school her in the finer points of martial arts and selflessness. However, Jen promptly rebukes his offer, sparking a tense conflict.
