In the poignant movie Compassion 2014, high school student HaNa experiences severe trouble sleeping after her classmate JinA commits suicide. While battling insomnia, HaNa witnesses her parents fighting intensely at night. The next day, however, her parents act as if nothing happened, making HaNa despise their hypocritical behavior. Seeking an escape, she is drawn to SeMi, a senior in the band club who approaches her. Influenced by this new relationship, HaNa begins to act differently, but she soon regrets her changing behavior. As things spiral out of control, a damaging rumor spreads about her, quickly turning HaNa into the main target of school bullies.
