In the movie Closed Note, Kae Horii, played by Erika Sawajiri, moves into her new flat in Kyoto. While unpacking, she discovers a hidden compartment behind an inconspicuous mirror containing a secret diary. The diary belongs to the previous tenant, Ibuki Mano, portrayed by Yuko Takeuchi, a young lady starting her first year as an elementary school teacher who is in love with a man named Takashi. The diary immediately resonates with Kae, who is also planning to become an elementary school teacher. Ibuki’s experiences serve as an inspirational guide for Kae’s personal life. At the same time, Kae is in love with an aloof illustrator and artist, Yusuke Iseya, but she is unsure if he shares her romantic feelings. This emotional story connects the parallel lives and loves of two women through a hidden journal.
