Chiritotechin chronicles the heartwarming journey of KiyomiB, a young woman from Fukui prefecture, as she embarks on a quest for self-discovery. Her path leads her to Osaka, where she becomes deeply captivated by rakugo, the traditional Japanese form of comic storytelling, inspiring her to forge a career in this unique art. In the summer of 1982, KiyomiB and her family relocate to Obama, her father's hometown in Fukui. Although greeted warmly by her grandmother and uncle, her grandfather, Shotaro, opposes her father's aspirations to inherit the Wakasa lacquer chopsticks making business. It is within Shotaro's factory that KiyomiB's passion for rakugo is reignited, eventually leading to a strong, shared connection with her grandfather through their mutual appreciation for the captivating storytelling tradition.
