Set during the Tang Dynasty in Changan, Can't Buy Me Love is a captivating romantic comedy. Princess Chiu Yeung, played by Charmaine Sheh, is the beautiful but notoriously unreasonable daughter of the Tang Emperor, Samuel Kwok. To avoid an arranged marriage to the Tibetan king Songtsän Gampo, schemed by the evil Concubine Wei, Kara Hui, the princess agrees to marry Kam Tuo Luk, played by Moses Chan. Kam Tuo Luk is the second son of the Kam family, Changan's largest gold manufacturer, who needs this royal marriage to save their troubled business. After the wedding, Princess Chiu Yeung moves in with her loyal servant Szeto Ngan Ping, played by Fala Chen, causing hilarious conflicts with Kam family members like Susanna Kwan and Louis Yuen. Despite the initial friction and stubborn misunderstandings, Princess Chiu Yeung and Kam Tuo Luk eventually fall in love. However, when the Kam family faces a capital offense, the princess must make the ultimate sacrifice to save them.
