This movie, much like Otsuichi's Waiting in the Dark, delves into the lives of two lonely young people who forge an extraordinary connection. The narrative follows Aihara Ryo, a shy, quiet, and introverted student who struggles to fit in and communicate effectively. Unable to make friends or hold normal conversations, Ryo has grown accustomed to a life of silence and isolation, with no need for a real cell phone. Longing for someone to talk to, she creates an imaginary cell phone in her mind for pretend conversations. To her surprise, one day, Shinya answers her mental call on the other side. For the very first time, Ryo discovers someone with whom she can truly share her thoughts, embarking on an uncommon and deeply meaningful relationship.
