Born to Run tells the powerful and inspirational story of two mothers and daughters forced to rebuild their lives after a catastrophic car accident. We meet Xiu Fang, an optimistic and tenacious widow who manages a fried chicken shop, having previously battled depression. In stark contrast is her sister, Xiu Li, a pessimistic and controlling mother with patriarchal views. Following Xiu Fang's 60th birthday party, a tragic car crash shatters their worlds: Xiu Li’s son is killed, and Xiu Fang’s daughter, An Xin, loses her legs. Confronted by overwhelming resentment, fear, and despair, both families must navigate immense challenges to find a path forward.
