Description:

In the poignant drama Ashita, Mama ga Inai, young Maki is temporarily placed in the childrens orphanage Kogamo no Ie after her mother commits assault. There, she meets Post, a resilient and positive young girl who reigns as the undisputed leader of the orphanage. Alongside her peers Piami and Bonbi, Post has cast away everything from her past, including her real name, adopting a queer nickname instead. These girls show no sadness, believing that thinking about their parents brings no happiness. Post teaches Maki that bravado is their only weapon to survive in this harsh, cold world, advising her to leave her past behind. However, despite the tough environment and the indifference of her new friends, Maki holds onto the desperate hope that her mother will eventually come back to get her.
