In the spring of 1998, fifteen-year-old transfer student Koichi Sakakibara, played by Kento Yamazaki, moves to a mountain region to live with his aunt Reiko Mikami, played by Ai Kato, while his father is abroad. Shortly after arriving, Koichi collapses from a sudden pneumothorax attack and is hospitalized. In the hospital elevator, he encounters a mysterious girl wearing an eye patch who speaks strangely before vanishing into the mortuary. Upon recovering and entering his new junior high school, Koichi discovers this enigmatic girl is his classmate Mei Misaki, played by Ai Hashimoto. However, a chilling atmosphere hangs over the classroom, as his classmates and teacher behave as if Mei does not exist at all. Following a terrifying chain of deaths at the school, Koichi turns to Mei, who holds the key to the dark, unfolding mystery.
